Accessibility

This page contains information about the sensory accessibility and physical accessibility of our studio. We also provide a video showing how to find the studio.

Sensory Accessibility

The entire team at the Gilded Goblin is neurodiverse; we all experience auditory processing issues and are prone to sensory overwhelm. We do our best to ensure the studio is a sensory-friendly space, but would like to provide the following information regarding the sensory accessibility of the studio.

Auditory Stimulus

Due to the high ceilings and hard floors, the space can be quite echoey. As such, our artists will often wear noise-cancelling headphones for the entire duration of the day so that they can remain focused on producing the best quality artwork without being overstimulated.

We highly encourage any clients who also experience sensory issues to bring noise-cancelling headphones with them. We have one spare pair at the studio, but we cannot guarantee that these will be available for use for clients on the day.

We have soft music playing in the background throughout the day. Please advise our team if this will be an issue prior to your appointment.

Visual Stimulus

All of our artists use purpose-built LED task lighting to illuminate the area being tattooed. Depending on the area of your body, this light may end up closer than 1m away from your face. If you are sensitive to light, we welcome you to wear sunglasses or even an eye mask during the process of getting tattooed.

Like most sensory-sensitive beans, we goblins are also allergic to “the big light” - nothing would make us happier than to not need “the big light” on in the studio! However, the overhead lighting is also an important aspect of our artists being able to see the work they produce for you. We have replaced the fluorescent overhead lighting with LED battens which don’t flicker.

Physical Accessibility

The Adelaide Arcade has two main entrances from Rundle Mall and Grenfell St and both are wheelchair accessible. The opening hours for these two main entrances are:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8am to 6pm

  • Friday: 8am to 9pm

  • Saturday to Sunday: 9am to 5pm

Outside of trading hours, these main entrances are gated off and the arcade can only be accessed by a side door which is not wheelchair accessible. When booking an appointment, please let us know if you are a wheelchair user so that we can make sure to schedule during the arcade’s regular trading hours.

Our studio is on Level 1 of the Adelaide Arcade, which can be accessed via the stairs or elevator. The elevator is located at the Grenfell St end of the Arcade, next to the Button Bar.

Dimensions

  • Hallway accessing the lift at its narrowest point is 93cm.

  • Entrance to the lift is 92cm.

  • Width of the lift is 97cm.

  • Doorway to the studio is 76cm.

  • Please note the door itself can be quite heavy for some, so please let us know if you require assistance in opening this when entering or leaving the studio.
